Curl Curl Plumbing were called out to Collaroy Basin at 3pm in the heavy rain that hit Sydney last week with reports of water leaking through the rangehood when the downpour was heavy.
After investigation, the Roof flue, commonly know as “the chinaman’s hat” was found lying on the ground in the garden, as it had rusted and blown off in the strong winds. The “chinaman’s hat” stops water going down the flue pipe, once it has blown off the rain ran into the pipe and filled up the ran in the rangehood over the cooktop.
Due to the height of the roof, we organised a cherrypicker to get up onto the roof, removing the remainder of the chinaman’s hat and install a new one. Not a common problem but just another example of the types of jobs Curl Curl Plumbing complete to help people in difficult times
